When you gather up the things you’ve done throughout the day, do any of them include your personal development goals?
If not, you may wanna read the past few articles to reinvent, and shift some perspectives for better alignment.
I only ask this question because I remember being a devoted fan of the show, “Survivor’s Remorse”. The STARZ show was suddenly canceled right in the middle of a pivotal point in the season.
My mind wandered as to what would be the next step for them, how long before they were able to find another gig, and what type of roles would they step into?
Remember when Raina, from POWER died? We were all saddened by the loss of her role, but then the same questions came about during this time as well.
When one door closes for you, whether it’s a love lost, fired from a job, losing the long-time friend you expected to always be there, or not getting the opportunities you seek; How do you feel in these moments.
Do you let the fear of not knowing distract you from your purpose, or your current “loss”?
F- FALSE E- EVIDENCE A- APPEARING R- REAL
It has been said that FEAR is simply an illusion, a figment of the mind. Why create sabotaging habits that allow this illusion in? According to Teresa Aubele, Ph.D. and Susan Reynolds,
“Optimism, involves highly desirable cognitive, emotional, and motivational components. Optimistic people tend to have better moods, to be more persevering and successful, and to experience better physical health. One factor may be simply that optimists attribute good events to themselves in terms of permanence, citing their traits and abilities as the cause, and bad events as transient.”
Sounds easy right! There are many ways to retrain the brain and gain a higher consciousness while not staying in the sunken place. Do you grant yourself the option of having more than one plan when something doesn’t fall through?
In what ways do you consider yourself to take control of your life? I am currently on a spin of wanting balance in every element of my life. Work, home, finances, love-life, relationships everything has to be balanced and aligned or it feels as if I can’t function. Focusing on your personal development and needs allows things to be more clearer for you. It’s almost as if you are constantly meditating and your energy is vibrating higher and higher for everything to be one!
Take for instance, an old affiliate of mine named Tiffany who sought out for a new job opportunity.
Those who know me are aware that I grin like a little kid when people are speaking about their goals, and passions. Well Tiffany sought out for a promotion that only her and another candidate were going toe-to-toe for.
Tiffany had way more experience than the other candidate, but what held her back was her mentality. She insisted on telling herself that she wasn’t going to get the position, and that she believed she wasn’t ready.
Tiffany “feared” that she would run into old situations from her past. Not only was Tiffany her own worst critic, but she created so much doubt and negativity for the existing role, that not even the hiring manager could see the potential she offered.
A couple weeks into upper management making the final decision on their offer, Tiffany was pulled to the side and informed of how they felt she was not ready for the position and how allowing her to step into another role would only be detrimental for the company.
After hearing of Tiffany’s disappointment and the feedback from management, left us all in shock. All of the negative thoughts she ingested and consumed onto herself, word from word were spoken to her in another form.
She then set herself up for immediate failure. This post is for somebody out there and I truly hope we can live beyond our vision. Believe in the unknown! One thing that makes children’s minds so sacred is their ability to believe, and stretch their imagination beyond capacity. Let’s continue to live intentionally, and pray for those like Tiffany to exert their worth, and goodness onto the world instead of their doubt.
